Last week's fintech newsletters devoted considerable attention to AI and data strategy within financial infrastructure. Linas's Newsletter published multiple posts arguing that Revolut Research demonstrates fintech's real AI moat is proprietary data, framing it as a sign that the company's advantage lies in data rather than being an AI Lab. The same newsletter also covered Stripe's acquisition of a $140B startup Legal OS, raised a question about whether anyone wants to pay for the smartest AI, and noted that Nvidia has become the buyer of last resort for its own chips. Fintech Radar also touched on AI-related dealmaking, reporting that Stripe bought an AI router, that Ramp is building one of its own, and that Experian has landed in ChatGPT.

Mergers, acquisitions, and investment activity were also prominent. Fintech Futures reported that Bain Capital is leading a $74m strategic investment for RQD Clearing, and separately that Basware plans to acquire corporate account validation tech provider Trustpair. Fintech Notebook covered a breakup involving Finastra, describing it as not yet complete. Connecting the Dots in FinTech reported on a €6.6M bet on AI accounting involving Mollie and Neno.

Other newsletters covered infrastructure and market milestones without extensive elaboration. Lombard Notes addressed what it called the local leg, focused on solving local liquidity in the stablecoin sandwich. Stack and Story reported that Fasset hit $1B on emerging-market plumbing.

Taken together, the week's coverage across these newsletters centered on proprietary data as an AI differentiator, acquisitions and investments in clearing, accounts payable, and legal technology, and infrastructure developments spanning stablecoins and emerging-market platforms.
